The Boy Child

My son loves, loves, loves to play Best Buy. It is his favorite place and he and his daddy often go to just hang out. Last week I had to go with them to pick out a new carpet cleaner and the employees KNOW MY SON. One even commented that he had on the same outfit as last time.

I hate Best Buy. I'd rather go to the dentist.

Yesterday he wanted to play Best Buy. By the way the game consist of you just watching him pretend to sell things around the house, usually a carpet cleaner, vacuum, blender, crockpot or any other household items within sight.

One day this week he got ahold of an old M&M Christmas garland. It came apart so I put it in his schoolroom to use later. It was red, green, blue, orange and yellow plastic M&M's. Today when we played Best Buy he was asking me to scan the rugs he wanted to buy so I decided to charge him, 3 green and 2 orange M&Ms. Am I not brilliant? He got a Kitchen Aid mixer for 5 red, 3 green, 2 yellow and 1 blue. Now beat that price, would ya. We had a blast. I was surprised to see him counting so carefully and engaged.

We played until he ran out of money (M&Ms) and he had no problem with it being over.

He claims to have several jobs, ya know. The bank (my daughter works at a bank), Carabbas (my daughters 2nd job), Porch (My husband sells Porch) and of course Best Buy. He seems to have many off days though. We started learning the days of the week this way. He is off on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesdays, so he says. He always works on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so he says. I don't know what he does on Thursday. He is so cool. He is currently trying to get a job at Home Depot.

We have done Montessori type stuff for A LONG time now. He is about all matched and sorted out. We've done more than a handful of letters and most days he knows a lot of the alphabet. I go over stuff with him and I seriously wonder if he is getting any it and then BANG he blows me away with what he has retained. He's learned a couple of letter using cars. F for Ford, M for Mustang, N for Nissan and so forth.

Now if I could only get him to poop on the toilet. I hate pull ups. I blame them. He waits until I put one on him at night and goes #2.

It surely wasn't because I trained him to pee standing up. He is not afraid I just don't think he is comfortable sitting down. He has done it, he just won't do it regularly. It's all good though. I've not known one person that attended their highschool graduation in a pull up.

I'll show him though. Last week I went to Kmart and purchased a waterproof mattress pad. I am preparing for war. I think I can take him. We are soon gonna have a bonfire using pull ups.

Getting on the Weight-loss Bandwagon

Well, hubby and I have been invited to a Polo Match, the Moroccan Embassy and then dinner at a swanky restaurant soon. Different invitations, not all in the same day/evening.

Since the Boy Child was born (12/06) we have been out to dinner (with other grown ups) once. I don't mind. I've been there, done all of that and in this season of my life I prefer to be at home. Having 3 grown daughters I know how quickly these years go by and I am seriously and deliberately soaking up every single minute of this life.

Still, I am very excited.

However, I really need to get on the diet bandwagon. I'm sure if I just cut out the late night cookies & cereal and the corn dogs for lunch and the fast food (oh the fast food crap) I will have a great start. I am horrid when it comes to eating.

I have Restless Leg Syndrome and I end up trying to walk it off when it wakes me up. I walk it off all the way to the refrigerator for a bowl of cereal or cookies & milk. It's not cool. I know this, even while I'm stuffing my face at midnight, I know it's not cool. So no more.

I'd like to say I plan on this great healthy diet of lots of fresh fruits and veggies and lots of salad and water galore. Well, that actually is the plan. We will see how it goes.

I don't necessarily mind so much what the scale say as sometimes I pretend it speaks a different language (hehe). What I mind is not being comfortable in my clothing. My goal is to fit comfortably into a dress I already own. That doesn't mean I will not purchase a new outfit for one or all of these events but I need a lasting goal. Being able to fit into the clothing I already own will allow me many more choices throughout the seasons not to mention save a boatload of bucks.

I joined Sparks People. Having to enter what I eat will ensure I think about what I eat. Is it worth having to enter? I don't know that I'll keep up with the entering everything, it is time consuming. Just seeing that one entry has me going, ewwwww already.
