The Boy Child

My son loves, loves, loves to play Best Buy. It is his favorite place and he and his daddy often go to just hang out. Last week I had to go with them to pick out a new carpet cleaner and the employees KNOW MY SON. One even commented that he had on the same outfit as last time.

I hate Best Buy. I'd rather go to the dentist.

Yesterday he wanted to play Best Buy. By the way the game consist of you just watching him pretend to sell things around the house, usually a carpet cleaner, vacuum, blender, crockpot or any other household items within sight.

One day this week he got ahold of an old M&M Christmas garland. It came apart so I put it in his schoolroom to use later. It was red, green, blue, orange and yellow plastic M&M's. Today when we played Best Buy he was asking me to scan the rugs he wanted to buy so I decided to charge him, 3 green and 2 orange M&Ms. Am I not brilliant? He got a Kitchen Aid mixer for 5 red, 3 green, 2 yellow and 1 blue. Now beat that price, would ya. We had a blast. I was surprised to see him counting so carefully and engaged.

We played until he ran out of money (M&Ms) and he had no problem with it being over.

He claims to have several jobs, ya know. The bank (my daughter works at a bank), Carabbas (my daughters 2nd job), Porch (My husband sells Porch) and of course Best Buy. He seems to have many off days though. We started learning the days of the week this way. He is off on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesdays, so he says. He always works on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so he says. I don't know what he does on Thursday. He is so cool. He is currently trying to get a job at Home Depot.

We have done Montessori type stuff for A LONG time now. He is about all matched and sorted out. We've done more than a handful of letters and most days he knows a lot of the alphabet. I go over stuff with him and I seriously wonder if he is getting any it and then BANG he blows me away with what he has retained. He's learned a couple of letter using cars. F for Ford, M for Mustang, N for Nissan and so forth.

Now if I could only get him to poop on the toilet. I hate pull ups. I blame them. He waits until I put one on him at night and goes #2.

It surely wasn't because I trained him to pee standing up. He is not afraid I just don't think he is comfortable sitting down. He has done it, he just won't do it regularly. It's all good though. I've not known one person that attended their highschool graduation in a pull up.

I'll show him though. Last week I went to Kmart and purchased a waterproof mattress pad. I am preparing for war. I think I can take him. We are soon gonna have a bonfire using pull ups.

  1. Thank you for leaving a comment on my site. To address the issue of charging a fee (small as it may be) is something I thought about as well. It can easily be free but the owner of the site is pretty a lot of time into this and probably need others to contribute ideas on a regular basis so she has offered an incentive. There's so much great information on the Internet that is free if you have the time to search. For those who don't, they may be willing to pay a small fee to offset the time saved. I think it's a fair trade off. For those who don't want to pay, there's still plenty of info on the net for wonderful ideas to all those who take the time to share them!
